| I put this friend into a pose based on Whistler's "The White Girl". I wanted the melancholy mood of a young girl facing an uncertain future. Lost in her thoughts, she looks far away from the mirror, untouched by her own beauty or that of the world around her. |  72" X 36" oil on canvas |

| The window pushes out into the world, while the mirror draws you back into the studio where the artist's muse beats out a rhythm. You'll also see the figures dancing in the pattern of the kimono in many of my drawings. |
